About Unix Timestamp Converter

Unix timestamps count the seconds since 1 January 1970 (UTC). They're everywhere in logs, databases and APIs, but hard to read. Paste one to see the date in UTC and your own time zone, how long ago it was, and every common format.

It works the other way too: enter a date such as 2026-11-04 13:30 to get its timestamp. Seconds, milliseconds, microseconds and nanoseconds are recognized automatically.

How to use Unix Timestamp Converter

  1. 1Paste a timestamp or type a date, or click Now.
  2. 2Choose whether dates without an offset are in your time zone or UTC.
  3. 3Copy the format you need.

Frequently asked questions

How does it know if a timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds?

By its length: up to 11 digits are seconds, 12–14 milliseconds, 15–17 microseconds and longer values nanoseconds. You can also choose the unit yourself.

Which date formats can I enter?

ISO 8601 dates such as 2026-11-04, 2026-11-04 13:30 or 2026-11-04T13:30:00+01:00, and common formats like Wed, 04 Nov 2026 12:30:00 GMT.

What about the year 2038 problem?

Systems that store timestamps as signed 32-bit numbers run out on 19 January 2038 at 03:14:07 UTC (2147483647). This tool uses JavaScript dates, which handle years far beyond that.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. Conversions happen in your browser, using your device's clock and time zone.
