YAML to JSON Converter
Convert YAML to JSON in your browser, with anchors expanded and clear error messages. Kubernetes and CI files welcome. No uploads.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded
About YAML to JSON Converter
Paste a YAML file, such as a Kubernetes manifest, a GitHub Actions workflow or an OpenAPI spec, and get the same data as JSON. Anchors and aliases are expanded, and several documents separated by --- become a JSON array.
If the YAML is invalid, you'll see the line and a plain explanation, for example tabs used for indentation. Large numbers keep every digit, and nothing leaves your browser.
Turn JSON into YAML for config files, Kubernetes, Docker Compose or CI pipelines, or go the other way. The output keeps your key order, quotes values that YAML would otherwise misread (such as yes, no or 1.0), and never folds long lines.
The conversion runs in your browser, so configuration with secrets or internal hostnames never leaves your device.
How to use YAML to JSON Converter
- 1Choose JSON → YAML or YAML → JSON.
- 2Paste your data or open a file, and pick the indentation.
- 3Copy the result or download it.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser, so nothing you paste leaves your device.
Why are some values in quotes in the YAML?
Without quotes, YAML would read text such as yes, no, on, 1.0 or 2024-01-01 as a different type. Quoting keeps them exactly as they were in your JSON.
What happens to anchors, aliases and multiple documents?
Converting YAML to JSON expands anchors and aliases into full copies, since JSON has no references. Several documents separated by --- become one JSON array.
Are comments kept?
No. JSON has no comments, so they're dropped when converting YAML to JSON.
